The AFC East
Sure, the Jets signed a big name cornerback in Trumaine Johnson and probably overpaid him but who doesn't overpay other than maybe the Patriots and Packers. And then the Jets got the #3 overall pick from the Colts. Only problem is, as The Vacation pointed out here, they gave up a King's ransom to get it. Their first round and three second rounders all to draft an overhyped quarterback in Rosen for the future. The short term solutions are Bridgewater and McCown but the Jets are still desperate for their long term answer at the game's most crucial position.
The Dolphins got rid of Suh and Landry but added Amendola. Meh. He was a regular season Joe with the Patriots and Brady and an absolute savage in the playoffs. Since the Dolphins don't really do the playoff thing, he will probably go back to mediocrity. Hey but at least he can model and tan with his girlfriend now. I am sure he really cares what I have to say.
The Bills gave Tyrod Taylor to the Browns. They went out and signed AJ McCarron. The fit with Brian Daboll makes sense. They will still need to heavily lean on LeSean McCoy to carry them, again. Someone get that man a chiropractor! Unless the defense looks like the 2017 Jaguars, I don't see this team being much improved.
The Patriots have supposedly collapsed and the dynasty is over, folks! The media said so! They lost Nate Solder to the Giants on an incredible overpayment of a contract to a mediocre offensive tackle. He was a 75 by Pro Football Focus last season. He was fine...not the world beater ESPN and other puppet analysts are making him to be. Amendola was going to come back 4th or 5th on the WR depth chart. Dion Lewis is cashing in on getting a ridiculous contract for a guy with major injury concerns. Butler was rated 79 by PFF last season but deserved that 60+ million dollar contract from the Titans. Isn't it crazy the Patriots offered him the same type of money before last season? Hm, that might have caused a little friction, maybe? The Patriots still win the AFC East next year.
They just got the Jets' sixth overall first rounder and three extra second rounders (one next year). That's great! But they also sit on 73 million dollars in cap space they didn't use on ANY free agents thus far, missed out on all the big names and oh yeah they are still shook from being cucked by Josh McDaniels. Being the joke of the AFC South is about as rough as this:
The Detroit Lions
While the rest of their division added heavy artillery: The Bears went and got Allen Robinson and Trey Burton, The Packers added Jimmy Graham and Muhammad Wilkerson and The Vikings added Kirk Cousins and Sheldon Richardson...Well, the Lions, they added LeGarrette Blount and re-signed Tavon Wilson. Detroit Lions fans:
Now, granted, free agency is far from over but the big moves have been made and Matt Patricia is going to need to improve this team quite a bit to have a chance at overcoming the likes of Green Bay and Minnesota this upcoming season.
Marvin Lewis is still your coach SOMEHOW. You did nothing to make your team better. The Browns are now better than you. Life comes at you fast.
The Washington Redskins
You traded away a solid starting cornerback for Alex Smith and lost Kirk Cousins and potentially Terrelle Pryor. Just getting worse in what is becoming a more difficult division while the defending champions, The Eagles, grow stronger. Oh and Dan Snyder. And your mascot is still the Redskins. L’s for days.
The Seattle Seahawks
WHAT ARE YOU DOING? You blew up your defense. You let your best cornerback go to a division rival. You are watching a top 3 safety go to a conference rival while your DE went to another conference rival. Pete has never been the same since he forgot to run the ball in the Super Bowl. Oh and while you were chewing some more Doublemint gum, Jimmy Graham went and signed with the Packers. Yikes. At least get rid of Petey if you're blowing the team up and starting over.
