Back in my day and Thrilly's day, we didn't swing these weak sauce BBCOR bats the kids have now, we swung lightening rods. Bats so powerful, that even little Beta Billy, your prototypical 9 hole hitter, could get into one 345-350 down the line for a massive tall jack.
Pitching was ridiculous back then. Like jam shots to dudes would carry 375, and if you showed up with a sunken in chest, tossing puss to a starting 9 of alpha male savages, you might as well have thrown up an L-screen, because your life was on the line.
From Little League through college, my entire career I swung the most lethal bats ever made, and to the generation that can relate, you know you miss the power. I would compare it almost to when I would be a young shit bag in my neighborhood and toss my self up a golf ball and smash it with a metal bat, into some neighbors yard like 500ft away.
Without further ado, I am going to just list a few of the bats I used during my playing days, and I KNOW I am missing a lot, so I need your guys input on the insane bats I missed.
The Worth Copperhead was savage. It wasn't terribly expensive I dont think, but the power was massive. I led my town of 300 people total every year in home runs in little league using this power stick.
The Omaha Gold, my god what a stick. I was an AAU guy playing for Team Connecticut out of East Hartford CT, and this was my stick of choice. Great sweet spot, and I hit my first ever home run over a fence with this bat at 14 years old. (My little league field growing up was too dirt bag for a fence).
What a fucking bat. O M G. My number one bat of all time was the Red Z Core. All State, .475 BA my senior year all thanks to the RED Z Core bat. Thing was hot lava, just the baddest bitch on the block. I still wake up in the middle of the night shaking in delight at my Uncle Rico moments swinging this stick.
The Stealth was a timeless classic, and this is the bat I used majority of my college career. It had a great sweet spot, however I will complain you couldn't ride jam shot homers as easy with the Stealth, because that stupid connector piece would instantly kill the ball. Still, though I had a good career with it, but damnit I should have stuck with the Z Core.
And there you have it, I know there are a ton more power sticks out there, but this is just my personal evolution. I swung majority of them all from the C5555 platinum to the Triple 777, but these were just the most consistent ones for me.
I want to hear what you guys swung and had the most success with, so shoot a comment or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will get your stories posted.
