Listen up Savages-In-Training…
Tony “I can’t stop smirking” Romo just shot a 5 over in his PGA Tour Debut. Is that better than I could shoot? Barely. Can we stop talking about this clown like he’s Bo Jackson now?
Romo has been playing in pro-am tourneys for years. Great, Anthony. Please don’t think you’re going to be able to have a career in golf. You’re not talented enough. Your back won’t hold up. You don’t have the mental toughness to finish a round (based on today’s example). Just play with Nantz (“Hello Friends”…Hello, Jim) when you’re on the road next season and stay off my television. I want to watch the best in the world, not someone who couldn’t wait to vaca in D.R.
After shooting his 77, Romo was asked to comment on his round… Now, before giving you his responses, I thought I’d mention that my value in best ball golf is chipping. Whenever I’m asked to play in a best ball tournament the expectation is that I’ll stick a few wedges and bring cigars for everyone. Back to Romo…The interviewer tried to help Romo along by saying, “You hit a lot of nice wedges today…” That may be true; and he would have plenty of opportunities after hitting only 50% of GIR! “I was really close today. 2 or 3 shots on the back nine cost me,” Romo said. Cost you what? A shot to make the cut? Because the leader, Brice Garnett, is 14 shots under you to start Day 2. So I hope you brought cigars for the boys, Tony. Especially since you’re only there to stick a few wedges you hack.
“You compete to know how to practice. And so, you know, you improve the next time you step out here.” Tony I’d like to let you in on a little secret… The rest of the guys in the field are COMPETING TO WIN you delusional asshole.
